Existentialist Cleaner, or How Ma Viewed the World

52

By lilyfly

Let it Go

Ma viewed the mold growing

behind the harvest gold

refrigerator doors...

with much enthusiam,

perhaps rooting for the strongest strain,

and if pee became a problem

on the wall opposite

the toilet,

she never let it show...

overflowing garbage was

a point of interest,

if only to see how long

it would take-

before the contents

took a suicidal leap to the floor...

and dust bunnies were friends,

to be nurtured singularly, or in groups,

as well as the boxes

of rocks she'd find, and not have the heart

to toss them back on the driveway...

plastic bags, wrappers, jar lids,

kept for millennia,

as well as clippings of articles-

but for all this chaos,

which I ammended regularly,

her mind was sharply honed

to writing, or carving, or painting,

always seeing that which did not yet exist,

that she held in her dry, worn palms,

and everything else

was just a commercial,

to be endured.

She held the pith

the seed of life

in her self.

......well I have long since regarded you as one of the most original writers I've ever had the pleasure of reading and you definitely inspire me as a writer too in so many ways - and yes there is no excuse for not dropping by a lot sooner but I would like to extend a sincere invitation to you to join my group at Facebook called LET'S JUST TALK MUSIC OR CINEMA - my name is Colin Stewart with the same profile page and I know your presence would make quite a difference there - in the meantime I will post this most amazing piece on my Facebook page to show that I am a member of the LILYFLY fan club and I wish you a Happy Valentine's day from your adoring Canadian ..... lake erie time ontario canada 6:44am

...p.s. - I love the title - if I just saw the title alone without your name and they asked me to guess the writer - you know who I would say ..... lol

...and how is the weather at your neck of the woods - the lake is just starting to freeze over here in a winter that has not been so severe - yet!

Ma was wise and wonderful in her brokenness and beauty. She held the pith of life within herself. If we all were that way, there would be less whining. That said, I feel the need to arrive with a bucket of bleach water and start cleaning. My ocd for order you know. Lily, again you write incredible words and verses that should be heard around the world.

As for dearest Epi, I will join and read your wonderful offerings when I have a nanosecond, and visit you more Hy, for your uplifting message of hope... much love to you both, lily

"always seeing that which did not yet exist"

AWESOME!

I love this poem in tribute to your Ma. I'll bet she is right proud of it. Your artistic gifts seem to be growing. God Bless your tender heart.

Lily - This an amazing and beautiful poem. My mother too is gone and yet their influence continues and their memories are strong.
